      An article directory is a website with collections of articles written about various subjects. It is possible that the article directories can be referred as the content farms, and the websites are created to produce mass content. Basically, the article directory is based on the category of journalism theory.

      Article directory is significant to the articles because the directories will allow the article to embed links to other websites with relevant anchor text. And the popular article directories are considered a high PR site and may be constantly crawled by Search Engine bots.

For example, the Craigslist are based on the article directory model. For instance, in Chicago area, the readers can see six parts which are community, personals, discussion forums, housing, for sales, and jobs. In each part, there are various articles in each category.

      Furthermore, the mater of the website may provide an author box for the writer to introduce his/her personal information or a link to his/her own website. Tags or categories can be used to organize the articles and help the search engines, because the tags or categories may act as keywords to indicate the main ideas that are discussed in the whole article.
